St. Petersburg Attractions to Enjoy On Your Vacation

St. Petersburg Attractions

Our Treasure Island, Florida rentals put you in the heart of St. Petersburg’s best attractions. Check out some of our favorites below!

Sunken Gardens

The Sunken Gardens are a must-see when it comes to St. Petersburg attractions! Originally built on the bed of a dried-up lake, this garden has become an icon. As the oldest museum in town, this garden holds over a thousand species. You will love wandering through the many trails and looking through all the beautiful tropical plants. Keep your eyes peeled for the flock of flamingos that live within this place, and listen for the waterfalls there as well.

St. Petersburg Museum of History

Exhibits

Offering insight into the history of Florida’s Sunshine City, the St. Petersburg Museum of History is a favorite for all visitors! Having been an attraction in St. Petersburg for over 100 years, the museum offers many experiences for its patrons.

Airplane enthusiasts will love visiting the exhibit on aviation history. Inside the museum, you will be able to explore the first passenger airplane that made the historic first flight from St. Petersburg to Tampa, a short 17-mile flight. You will be able to see where history was made from the Flight One Gallery and learn about the huge transition into the world that offers commercial flights today.

Baseball fans will want to check out the most extensive collection of autographed baseballs and see the other baseball artifacts from legends such as Babe Ruth. The collection is certified by Guinness World Records, holding roughly 5000 autographed baseballs.

Aside from these, you can gain an appreciation for the history of St. Petersburg. See the history of the piers and the historic importance of the city as a port. You will also be able to learn about the city’s role in the Civil War and World War II.

Aside from these historic treasures, dive into the odd collections within The Odditorium, where all the strange and unusual objects have made their way to St. Petersburg, including a 3000-year-old mummy and a two-headed calf.

Tours

If you are looking for a more guided experience, sign up for one of the many group tours that the museum leads or has a partnership with. These tours include a segway tour, a tour of the haunted sites in St. Petersburg, a trolley tour, or a walking tour through historic downtown St. Petersburg.
